Hi there! My name is Katie Olson and I am Miss Fargo 2018.
I am so excited share a little bit of my life with you all! Being Miss Fargo has been an absolutely crazy and busy ride so far. I was crowned in September and have been juggling my title, a job, school, and a sport! First and foremost I am a proud student and spirit ambassador at North Dakota State University. I am an upcoming junior, and am majoring in Elementary Education! So, when you can’t find me in a college classroom, odds are I’m in an elementary school observing and interacting with classrooms! I absolutely love working with kids. Three days a week I split my day between mornings observing a 3rd grade classroom, and afternoons working at my job where I help with infant, toddler, and preschool aged classrooms. Like I said, I really love working with children! On the other two days of the week I am a college student, busy in class all day. Another big part of my daily life is being on the dance team! I am on the North Dakota State University Bison Dance Team, and have spent two amazing years dedicated to this team. I love getting to dance with my best friends, who also happen to be my teammates. Being on this team I have had so many wonderful oppourtunities such as: dancing at Bison football games, competing at nationals, and really cultivating my platform.
My platform, The Motivation Mindset: Positivity at Every Turn, has really been strengthened by my time on the Bison Dance team. I have learned the value of my own positive mindset, and I can’t wait to share my platform with everyone! One of my favorite quotes (which you can find right here) has really stemmed a lot of the research and meaning behind my platform. Having a positive growth mindset versus a fixed mindset is something I talk about a lot in my platform, and if you would like to hear more about all of that you can find me @missfargo_2018 on instagram and @missfargo2018 on Facebook!
I can’t believe that the Miss North Dakota 2018 competition is less than 3 months away! I was born and raised in Williston, ND and have being going to the state pageant every year since I was about 7! Sometimes I still can’t believe that I get to be up on that stage. I have been apart of the system in every way and I figured it was finally time I joined as a contestant. I was a dancer in the state pageant for four years, and a little sister! I remember just looking up to the contestants as a little girl so much, and thinking that they were just the coolest people on earth. It’s crazy now to be in that role model position, and to know I will get a little sister of my own, I can’t wait!
Being Miss Fargo isn’t just about the crown though, an important part of my life as a titleholder is doing appearances and volunteering in my community! I have been keeping pretty busy, from my dance clinic fundraiser, to riding in the Fargo St. Patricks day parade. There’s no better feeling than getting out into the community and making a good name for the Miss North Dakota Organization, or raising money for great causes.
Well I hope I gave you a little peak into my daily life, and who I am as Miss Fargo 2018! It’s wild to think that in just a couple months I will be on the Miss North Dakota Stage, representing Fargo. I am so excited to see what the next couple months are going to bring, see you soon!
